4 days to know the desert

Desert Trip from Marrakesh to Fes via Erg Ouzina and Erg Chebbi 4 Days (Jeep 4WD 4×4)

This tour is ideal for those who have three days to know the desert, Erg Chebbi and the Draa Valley. This route starts from Marrakech


Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Roses Valley – Dades Valley

We will pick up you from your accommodation in Marrakech. You will be driven across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m), there will be opportunities to take photos as you enjoy the scenes of the High Atlas Mountains along with numerous adobe Berber villages on the way. Our first stop is in the village of Aït Benhaddou where we will be having a lunch break after which you can then explore the exotic Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou.
From there we travel to Ouarzazate where you may have a stop to view the Kasbah of Taourirt which was built by the Glaoui dynasty, then, on to Skoura where you will be mesmerised with the Palm Grove along the way.
We continue on towards Boumalne Dades passing by Kelaat M’gouna (Valley of the Roses), and the Dades Valley (Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs).
Dinner and overnight will be in a hotel in the Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Oasis Mharech – Erg Ramlia – Erg Ouzina

After breakfast at the hotel, you will leave for Tineghir the gateway to the Todra Gorge. You will have the chance to stop for a panoramic view of the river. We continue on the road alongside the river to reach the gorges where you will have a break for lunch. You can take a walk on foot through this stunning place while enjoying the impressive views of its high rock walls.
From here we drive to Ouzina desert dunes passing by Tizi n´Tferkhine, we can make a stop in Alnif for coffee, then we continue to Mharech Oasis situated in the Mharech Pass.
From there we cross the dry Ghriss River at the foot of the orange dunes of Erg Ramlia and Erg Ouzina. You can watch the sunset on the sand dunes of the pure desert of Ouzina situated in the South-East of Morocco. Y
ou will overnight in the typical Guest House Kasbah Ouzina, after dinner, you can enjoy listening to the Berber drumming music. To top off a wonderful day you can have a walk on the dunes to stargaze.

Day 3: Erg Ouzina – Ouzina Village – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

After breakfast we pack up and drive on the off road track to have a short visit in Ouzina Village where we enjoy mint tea with a Berber family, then we drive to the dunes of Merzouga on the Dakar race route. On this part of the journey we can see some nomadic tribes in their tents and we stop in Khamlia village, famous for their African Gnawa Music and Sub-Saharan heritage.
After a break for lunch we go to the hotel where the next part of the adventure starts. You will experience a camel ride to reach the desert camp in the middle of dunes where you will spend the night, enjoy your evening with dinner under the stars and you sleep in a Nomad Berber tent.

Day 4: Merzouga – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fez

After breakfast in your hotel we continue on our drive toward Fes passing by Erfoud, our first stop is at the panoramic viewpoint of Aoufous Oasis. Later on, you will pass by Errachidia known as the military city due to its numerous garrisons. We may stop at Barrage Hassan Adakhil for photos.
Our journey continues alongside the Ziz River, you will enjoy the beautiful scenes of the Ksours and Ziz Gorges and you will pass by the French built Legionnaires Tunnel (Zaabal).
From there the trip takes us through the Middle Atlas Mountains and we will cross the Tizi n’Talghom Pass (1907m).
We arrive in Midelt where you will have lunch. Afterwards, you will enjoy the great views of Jebel Aachi Mountain with its snow-covered peaks. Leaving Midelt we drive towards Azrou where you will have the chance to view the 800 year old tree named Cedre Gouraud and perhaps meet the Barbary monkeys in the cedar forest.
From here we continue to Ifrane “The Switzerland of Morocco, you will see the stone lion and can take pictures. You may have a visit to Al-khawayn (Two Brothers) University. Continuing on our drive to Fes we pass by Imouzzar Kandar.

When we arrive in Fez you will transfer.
