A long journey to know the Imperial City of Fes and the Desert ending in Marrakech


Day 1: Arrival

You’ll arrive in Fes and we will transfer you to your hotel, where you’ll spend the night and have breakfast.

Day 2: Visit of Fes

The entire day will be dedicated to visit the spiritual and cultural capital of the Kingdom. You will have the opportunity to visit the religious, artistic and intellectual Morocco. We will visit the oldest Medina, the Medersas of Cherratine and El-Attarine: these and many other buildings are dedicated to religious studies and are of Arabic architecture. After lunch, we will visit the different souks such as the famous district of the tanners, and the Mechouar of the Royal Palace. You will overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Fes – Azrou – Ifrane – Ziz Gorges – Tafilalet Palm Grove – Erfoud – Merzouga

We will leave from Fes after breakfast. We’ll cross part of the Middle Atlas Mountain range through the town of Ifrane, also called the little Switzerland of Africa because of the combination of its alpine architecture and cedar forests. We will stop to see the Barbary monkeys that inhabit the area of Azrou. We continue to Midelt where we take a lunch break.
After our rest we drive southwards until we arrive at the Palm of Tafilalet and from there we to the famous dunes of Erg Chebbi: the great dune, in Merzouga. You will overnight in a hostel.

Day 4: Merzouga – Oasis – Khamlia – M´fiss -Tissardmine – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

After breakfast, we will start our 4x4 adventure. We will go to the dunes to see: the two oases of Merzouga, the nomadic lands, the famous Khamlia village to listen their African Gnawa music, the M´fiss mines, the desert plateaus, the Berber nomads and the Tissardmine oasis. We’ll return to the hotel at about 3 in the afternoon where you can relax for a while.
In the late afternoon you will meet the camel guide and saddle up for your trek over the dunes to see the sunset and sleep in a wild oasis located two hours away in the desert. Night under the stars in a Berber Haima.

Day 5: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi desert – Ouzina

When you return to the hotel in the morning, and after breakfast and a shower, we will depart to visit the city of Rissani: the economic capital of southern Moroccan and the country’s first imperial city, the souk under the red arches and its numerous ksours.
Then we leave the tarred road to go off road along the track of the Paris-Dakar Rally until we can see the Ouzina palms where we’ll stop to drink Berber tea with a family. We’ll spend the night in a Kasbah Hotel.

Day 6: Desert – Oasis Ouzina – Ramlia – Mharech – Todra Gorge

Leaving the hotel after breakfast we will discover the different faces of the desert. We’ll cross a Reg which is a stony desert; this is a real lunar landscape with vast expanses of dark stones that disappear until our view is lost on the horizon.
We’ll visit oases, several Berber villages where real nomads live in tents, and we will also pass by Maider Lake. Then, taking the road on Msissi via Tizi n´Tifrkhinn, we will arrive at the Todra Gorge to spend the night in a Riad there.

Day 7: Todra Gorge – Dades – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we leave the Todra Gorge and travel westwards to the Dades Valley and to the Kasbah of Ait Youb where we will take a track that allows you to admire the ksours and Kasbahs while you journey to the Valley of the Roses.
After a break for lunch time we will continue to the Skoura palm grove, then on to Ouarzazate. Dinner and relaxation time will be in a Kasbah hotel.

Day 8: Ouarzazate – Ksar Benhaddou – Kasbah Ait Telouet – Marrakech

After breakfast, the morning is used to visit Ouarzazate: the Taourirt Kasbah, the Kasbah of Tifoultoute, and the famous Film Studies. We will then drive to Aït Benhaddou, where you will visit the old town: the Kasbah was classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
In the afternoon, we will travel to Marrakech via the Tizi n´Tichka high mountain pass. On our way we will be visiting an Argan Oil cooperative where you can appreciate the complete process and you will have an explanation about the many benefits it has for the human body. We will arrive in Marrakech around 18.00 where you’ll have some free time to discover the famous Jemaa el Fna square, and to enjoy an amazing dinner there. You will overnight at a hotel or riad.

Day 9: Marrakech

After your breakfast you will have a guided half day city tour, to discover some of the highlights Marrakech has: the Menara Gardens, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, and the impressive Koutoubia Mosque with its famous minaret built by the Almohads. In the afternoon you will have free time to have lunch and to enjoy the charm of the Jemaa el Fna Square and souks. Accommodation in a hotel or riad.

Day 10: Departure from Marrakech

Today you have free time for last minute shopping until it´s time to transfer you to the airport.
